Gray Head is a primarily residential community. That being said, most opportunities for dining and shopping can be found in the surrounding areas, including Mountain Village and Telluride. The following are some of the best that these towns have to offer.

With Telluride located less than 20 minutes away, it is an ideal place to find restaurants. A popular favorite, Cornerhouse Grille is a bar and grill set within a historic house that serves burgers and sandwiches. Rustico Ristorante is also a great choice, offering upscale Italian fare in a rustic and romantic setting. For Mexican cuisine, try heading out to La Cocina De Luz. La Cocina De Luz has a focus on organic ingredients, making it a healthier option. The Butcher & The Baker is a quaint cafe with breakfast foods, baked goods, and sandwiches served alongside cocktails and local brews.

Telluride is also home to many beloved shops. Crossbow Leather is the perfect place to find leather goods such as bags, accessories, and home goods. Schaussi’s Alpen Schatz is an Alps-themed store selling everything from clothing and accessories to pet items such as collars and coats. The Telluride Bluegrass Festival is an annual event hosted by Planet Bluegrass every summer, and it is a great place to hear live music across a variety of genres. Mountain Village also has great music events, such as Music on the Green and Music in the Village Center. The Telluride Film Festival is perfect for film enthusiasts, as it showcases the best achievements in film.

Like many parts of this area, outdoor activity is a staple, and there are many sites for opportunities for a fun day in nature. The Telluride Ski Resort offers many different activities, including skiing, snowboarding, and golfing. For those interested in mountain biking, the Telluride Bike Park has several trails to bike down. The San Sophia Overlook is also a great destination for scenic views, as it is the halfway point for the gondola and has valley and ridge views as well as a restaurant.
