Mountain Village is a town located in the San Miguel Mountains of Colorado at an elevation of 9,540 feet. Mountain Village has roots as a sheep ranch but is now known for its world-class skiing. Initially considered part of the Town of Telluride, Mountain Village became its own resort town in 1995. The area’s architecture and planning have been influenced by various European ski villages.

The following are some of the best places to go in Mountain Village. When looking to find impeccable food in Mountain Village, one beloved restaurant is Allred’s Restaurant. Located at the top of the Telluride gondola with gorgeous panoramic views of the mountains, Allred’s is a high-end restaurant serving a menu full of delicious New American fare. The Madeline Hotel also has great dining opportunities, including the Black Iron Kitchen & Bar, a casual restaurant serving modern mountain dishes made with in-season ingredients from a local farm. Also, in The Madeline Hotel, Timber Room specializes in whiskey-focused cocktails and mountain fare. Mountain Village also has many retail options. Burton – Telluride is a popular chain store selling everything from outdoor wear for men, women, and children to outdoor sports gear. Also great for outdoor sports, Bootdoctors sells, rents, and repairs snowboard and ski gear while also selling outdoor clothing and accessories. The North Face has a large store in the Mountain Village Center complex, selling its signature collections of fitness and outdoor apparel.

Whether you want to socialize at a local event or spend time at a park or outdoor area, there is something fun for everyone in Mountain Village. If you’re looking for events in the area, Market on the Plaza is the place to be. This weekly farmers’ market is the perfect place to find homemade products and locally sourced foods, all while supporting local farmers and businesses. Another beloved event in Mountain Village is Music on the Green, a free summer concert series taking place in the town’s Reflection Plaza. Live Music in the Village Center is a daily music event held in the summer months, with drinks and dinners from local establishments available. Mountain Village is home to many green spaces and outdoor activity sites. Telluride Ski Resort is the perfect place for ski and outdoor sports enthusiasts. The resort offers multiple ski slopes ranging from beginner to expert, as well as snowboarding and summer biking. The Telluride Bike Park also offers opportunities for biking. The Course at Telluride Ski Resort is one of the highest elevation golf courses in the world and offers world-class golfing atop the Turkey Creek Mesa.
